The Legend

Sothys was the name the Egyptians gave to a particularly bright star, which the inhabitants in the time of the pharaohs saw shining like a jewel in the Egyptian sky on particularly beautiful, clear nights.

People were fascinated by the brilliance and beauty of Sothys, but not only people, because in ancient times the gods were also subject to feelings like hate, love, anger, jealousy, and revenge, and they suffered and loved each other just like humans. These passionate feelings also applied to the stars and planets.

One night, as Saturn traveled through the sky, he encountered a small star named Sothys. Even Venus, in all her dazzling beauty, was not as wondrous. Saturn fell in love with the star and ignited in a passion incomprehensible to us humans.

The radiant Venus was jealous and took revenge through a series of intrigues. The chains with which Saturn tried to hold Sothys broke, and the radiant Sothys fell from the sky and disappeared.

Clouds, wind, thunder, and lightning appeared, and it was as if the sky itself had collapsed and vanished.

For the next forty days and nights, Saturn wept profusely, flooding the earth. Was this the cause of the deluge? Sothys had disappeared from the sky... but one day Sothys returned. For what reason? What new radiance does she bring us, the former queen of the sky? Sothys has given her secret to humans to preserve their beauty and radiance.
